Minister's Wives Fellowship

"Gather my saints together unto me, those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice." Psalm 50:5

This ministry of support and encouragement among the Ministers' Wives and Female Clergy of the North Carolina Conference is directed by Mrs. Betty Thompson. As "First Lady" of the Conference, Mrs. Thompson is familiar with the blessings and challenges of living in the "goldfish bowl" of ministry.

Ministers' Wives Fellowship is a ministry for the wives of all ordained, licensed and local church ministers; wives of ministerial candidates, widows of ministers and lady ministers.

Purpose: The purpose of Ministers' Wives Fellowship is:

  1. To provide fellowship, support and training for ministers' wives.

  2. To enable minister's wives to explore, define and better understand their role in today's world.

  3. To strengthen the skill of each minister's wife to fill her role in the home, church and community.

  4. To emphasize the partnership of ministers' wives in ministry with their husbands.

Goals: One of the most important goals of the Ministers' Wives Fellowship is to give the ministers' wives the support and fellowship that they need with other ministry wives.

  1. We are working on getting a prayer partner for each minister's wife. By doing so, each lady has someone to share joys and sorrows with and have someone to pray with.

  2. This prayer partner can also be someone with whom they have fellowship with. (With husbands or without)

  3. The MPM meetings (Mission, Prayer & Ministry meetings with the Bishop) are also a good source of fellowship and ministry with the husbands.

    a. We meet at a restaurant for meal and fellowship, then
go to a church for Bishop's meetings of
encouragement - divide up for prayer. The men are
with the superintendent and the ladies are with me.
    b. These meetings are twice a year in each district.
    c. They are on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings
in two different districts that are close by each other
so that you can attend one or the other.
    d. These are good times of encouragement, fellowship
    and sharing.
    4. Ministers' Wives Fellowship Retreat - we had our first retreat in February of 2003 with some of the best speakers. The Lord ministered to us all. We hope to have this retreat at least every other year.
    5. Minister and Spouse Retreat - This is such a special time for ministry couples to share with each other. This is also a time of encouragement, information and good fellowship.
    6. Whenever the men have training, we try to plan something also.
    7. We have a program and banquet on the Friday afternoon or on Saturday morning of Falcon Camp Meeting in August.
